Survey: IT Pros Say AI Excels at Repetitive and Unpleasant Coding Tasks
June 9, 2025 — In a recent industry survey, a majority of IT professionals expressed growing satisfaction with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in software development, particularly when it comes to automating the most tedious and repetitive parts of coding.
The survey, conducted by [insert fictional or real research firm], included responses from over 1,500 developers, software engineers, and IT managers across various industries. An overwhelming 78% of respondents reported that AI tools have significantly reduced the time they spend on tasks such as debugging, code refactoring, writing boilerplate code, and documentation.
“AI is doing the parts of the job that no one really enjoys,” said Priya Deshmukh, a senior software engineer at a fintech startup. “I still write the core logic, but now I rely on AI to clean up redundant code or suggest quick fixes.”
While some developers voiced concerns about job displacement and over-reliance on automation, most agreed that AI is better seen as a productivity partner than a threat. Interestingly, the survey also noted an increase in job satisfaction among developers using AI tools, as they could focus more on creative problem-solving and architectural design.
However, not all feedback was glowing. Some respondents warned that AI-generated code can occasionally introduce subtle bugs or inefficiencies, reinforcing the need for human oversight.
Industry analysts suggest that as AI continues to evolve, its role in software development will shift from mere assistance to deeper collaboration. For now, it appears AI is best suited for tackling the tasks that developers are more than happy to offload.
“The goal isn’t to replace developers,” said James Liu, CTO of a cloud services firm. “It’s to let them do what they do best—solve complex problems—while AI handles the digital grunt work.”
